Hello There!
So,While browsing facebook I suddenly came upon the ad from Binary Logic for the new "Aigo Darkflash Neo" Case which is focused toward airflow, has three ARGB fans with controller included. So generally I became very Interested and upon researching I also found this model,The aigo DLM21.The clean looks of this case made me really interested.Hence,I decided to get one for review.(Will Also post the review of the Aigo Darkflash Neo soon). In this review, I won't go over specification, as it's easily accessible from the websites.
so,Let's start off with the outside appearance.
The case has two variants.Mesh & Non-Mesh Plastic front Variant. Both the models has diamond patterns but it is much more prominent in the Non mesh model, the one I am reviewing today. The case also comes in 4 colours. They are your standard Black & White alongside two really interesting colours ,Pink & Mint.
The one I am reviewing is the Black Non Mesh variant. Also the front has support for 2x 120mm fans or a 240mm radiator with surprisingly a removable bracket to mount radiator.
Moving on to the side panels, The case has a 3mm thick Tempered Glass Panel which has a hinge and a magnet mechanism which works like a door and provides really easy access for the components inside. If you are wondering if it's safe for transportation with the door-magnet mechanism on, I am quite happy to report that The magnets here are quite strong,And I certainly didn't have any problem moving this PC around. The magnets are quite strong and holds the glass panel in place even with the motions from moving.Personally, As an enthusiast I really love this swing door style mechanism as it provides me really easy access to the components inside allowing me to swap something easily.
Moving on to the back side panel, It is plain Steel panel with some holes drilled out near the front to give some space for the front mounted fans to breath(although I have high doubts as to its functionality-more about it later).
On the top you will find support for 2x120mm fans or a 240mm radiator and has as dust filter as well.It is certain the majority of your cases airflow will come from here if you take the non mesh variant like me.
In the rear you will find 1x120mm radiator or fan mount, the motherboard IO cutout, & 4 pci-e bracket alongside the exhaust for the power supply-Typical Micro atx layout & the bottom has the 4 standoffs for the case alongside cutout for power supply fan intake with a dust filter pre included.
I have to say the appearance is very stylish in the non mesh version, almost reminds me of the NZXT H510,although being a matx case.
Of course, appearance wouldn't matter much if the build quality is bogus,or Building a system and Cable management is poor in the case. However, after building in the Case,I think I'd say this is one of the most easiest of micro atx cases I've built on.Appropiate cutout for the cables,Decent enough space behind the back of the motherboard tray.
And,Also a good amount of space over the motherboard so it was actually very easy to pass cables for the fans And It will also be very handy for mounting a radiator on the top, if you decide to do so.I'd give 8/10 on the easy-build factor. At this point I am sure many of you are wondering how is the build quality of this case.Well,in my opinion, this is the Best built quality within its price range.I've built with many similarly priced cases such as Antec VSK10 & aigos own Skyred case but all of them were bugged with many flaws, But other than the front panel of non mesh version being a fingerprint magnet(they include a micro fiber cloth to clean em)& the PCI-E slot covers being those cheap bend and pull type non reusable ones(which unfortunately is becoming a trend in cases even much more expensive than this),I didn't really find anything to complain about and even the looks complemented it's really good build quality.Good Build quality,Easy to build, And a good looking case-Does it triumph all the way though?
Well,to answer that question,we have to look at the one of the most important aspects of this case, the thermals.
Well,This was really a mixed bag.I don't think you will find Much more on thermals at cases within this price range but due to its incredible minimalistic looks and build quality, People might wanna put expensive components such as a expensive gpu which might output more heat than others. However I am not really complaining, as You always have the option to go with the Mesh variant at the cost of appearance (although it's a personal opinion that non mesh looks better, you may like the mesh one better.)
So the build I put together in there had a AMD Ryzen 7 3700x OC'ed to 4.35ghz with deepcool gammaxx gt & Gigabyte Windforce 3x RTX 2070 Super.
I have tried two different Configurations with the fans. One with 2 front and 2 top intake and 1 rear exhaust and the other one flipping the top two fans to exhaust.
Front two fans are obviously really choked in this non mesh variant, even though there is holes on the right side panel. I Literally taped it shut and thermals didn't make any difference. SO I proceeded to go with Trying different Configurations with the top two fans.
Top two fans as exhaust yielded better Thermal of 2-3*C compared to top two as intake but CPU temperature was cooler about 5 degrees when top two was intake. And ,opening up the front panels(mimicking the mesh variant) yields 10*C temperature improvement for the GPU but doesn't really make a difference for the CPU if the top two fans are acting as intake.
So,If you have concerns over temperature, I Would HIGHLY Suggest Getting the Non mesh variant.(Do note that this temperature variations are from gaming sessions, not benchmark or stress tests)
Now, Time for the conclusion. First off,If you are looking for a good quality case with a shade of class, the non mesh variant of this case alongside different colour options is a gold at this price point in my personal opinion, Although you will have to keep in mind that your temperature will be quite a bit higher than the mesh version. Also Couple with the fact that This case doesn't have any pre included fans(The pictures are of Aigo C7 Fan Pack which is sold separately) Non mesh variant would certainly pose a challenge in terms of cooling. It won't be a issue really if you like the look of the mesh variant and take that one instead.
Now,in my screw box I found only two extra motherboard standoffs just enough to fit the full sized micro atx boards but one of them was broken in my unit so I had to refer to my stock to get one which many might not have the luxury of. I find it quite odd that they were detailed enough to include a micro fiber cloth but didn't include a few extra standoffs. So at the end of it all,What do I think about this case?
Well,I have to say,it's simply amazing for its price. For 3300BDT Personally I don't think you should Ask for more. The thermal issue I mentioned is present in Almost every case in its price range and the one it's most visually similar to, The NZXT H510,Is also similarly thermally limited. But in this case you always have the option to go with the mesh version and remove these thermal limitations. Not to add,I am utterly shocked to see such build quality in this price.I would recommend it to anyone 100%
